Courbet and me
Impressed by Courbet’s painting “The Desperate Man”, I embarked on a process of reappropriation and mise en abîme. I projected the image onto my own face and torso, seeking a form of embodiment—a portrait that serves as a relay between the painter and myself. This series is also a meeting of two representational techniques: the pictorial image and the photographic image. It highlights the persistence of figures and genre, and our desire to encounter the other within ourselves.
